At SDN 2 Mola Utara, a new atmosphere has taken root since the school library was revitalized. Neatly arranged shelves, rows of colorful picture books, and a leveled reading system have transformed the space into a welcoming and joyful place for children to read.
During an observation visit, Ms. Wa Ade Kurniawati, homeroom teacher of Grade 5B, reflected on the changes. Some of her students had previously struggled with reading, and two in her class still needed extra support to catch up with their peers.

To address this, Ms. Wa Ade began taking her students regularly to the library, where they explored picture books and simple stories. The leveled system—ranging from Level A1, with minimal text and straightforward plots, to Level C, with longer and more complex narratives—proved especially helpful for tracking her students’ progress.
The impact was soon evident. Within just a month, several students advanced to higher levels. Even more encouraging, children in her class began requesting library visits on their own, eager to read beyond the scheduled sessions.

“In the past, our library collection was very limited, especially books suited to children’s interests and reading levels. Now, the students are far more enthusiastic about reading,” Ms. Wa Ade shared with a smile.
Looking ahead, she plans to introduce a simple observation form to monitor each student’s reading journey more systematically, ensuring that every child continues to grow with confidence.
