Taman Bacaan Pelangi is a non-profit organization committed to strengthening children’s literacy in underserved communities across Indonesia. Through long-term partnerships with schools, local governments, and private sector donors, we transform underutilized school libraries into vibrant literacy hubs that foster a lifelong love of reading.

Our flagship Child-Friendly Library Program addresses systemic literacy gaps by combining infrastructure improvement, access to high-quality books, teacher capacity building, and community engagement. Rather than focusing solely on book distribution, we invest in sustainable systems — equipping educators with the skills and tools necessary to embed reading into daily school culture.

We believe literacy is a foundational lever for long-term social mobility. When children gain access to engaging reading materials and consistent guided reading practices, they develop not only literacy skills, but also confidence, imagination, and critical thinking — essential competencies for breaking cycles of poverty and contributing meaningfully to their communities.

To strengthen long-term impact, we have expanded our programming through two complementary initiatives:

The Digital Library Project integrates technology into school literacy ecosystems. Teachers receive targeted training to utilize digital reading platforms such as Literacy Cloud, Let’s Read Asia, and SIBI, while students gain structured access to digital reading devices within the library space. This blended model increases content accessibility, supports differentiated learning, and builds digital literacy competencies alongside foundational reading skills.

The Girl Empowerment Project focuses on strengthening adolescent girls’ confidence, aspirations, and life skills. Through in-person facilitation and online mentorship, participants receive academic support, vocational exposure, and structured self-development training designed to expand their educational and career pathways.

To scale impact sustainably, Taman Bacaan Pelangi works through strategic partnerships:
