This year marks the eighth year of partnership between Taman Bacaan Pelangi (TBP) and Givaudan in Sulawesi. Givaudan is a Swiss multinational company and the world’s leading manufacturer of flavors and fragrances. Beyond its industry leadership, Givaudan is committed to sustainability and creating positive social impact in the communities where it operates.

The partnership began in 2018 with the establishment of a child-friendly library at SDN 1 Katoi, an elementary school in North Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Since then, the collaboration between TBP and Givaudan has continued to grow. At the end of June 2026, the two organizations celebrated the inauguration of their 14th child-friendly library at SDN 06 Wolasi in South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Over the past eight years, this partnership has created meaningful impact across six regencies in two provinces in Sulawesi. Together, the program has reached more than 1,500 elementary school children, engaged 170 teachers and 240 parents, and distributed over 18,000 high-quality children’s books to partner schools. Through the child-friendly libraries, students gain access to engaging, age-appropriate reading materials, while teachers receive training and mentoring to deliver enjoyable literacy activities in the classroom. Parents are also actively involved through initiatives that encourage reading at home and help foster a culture of literacy within families.

As the partnership has evolved, its scope has expanded beyond child-friendly libraries. Together, TBP and Givaudan have also introduced a Digital Library program, providing teachers and students with greater access to quality digital reading resources. In addition, the Girl Empowerment program equips junior secondary school girls with the confidence and essential life skills they need to thrive. The program covers topics such as public speaking, financial literacy, environmental literacy, digital literacy, and other practical skills that prepare girls for the future.

Eight years of partnership have demonstrated that lasting change is built through sustained collaboration. Together, Givaudan and TBP have not only created welcoming library spaces for children but also strengthened the broader literacy ecosystem by empowering teachers, engaging parents, and supporting adolescent girls. Looking ahead, TBP hopes to continue expanding this partnership to reach more schools and communities across Indonesia, ensuring that even more children have access to quality books and the opportunity to build a brighter future through reading.
