World-Horizon, a non-profit organization based in Germany which supports local organizations around the world by providing full time on site volunteers, is now collaborating with Taman Bacaan Pelangi [Rainbow Reading Gardens]! After a rigorous series of selections, finally the World-Horizon appointed a young and talented guy, named Lukas Beermann, to be Taman Bacaan Pelangi’s full time volunteer for a whole year, who will be living in Flores and working closely with our team on sites.

We are very happy with this collaboration. Lukas will help us implement our new programs in collaboration with our volunteers who manage our libraries in each village. He will be living in several spots of our libraries in local people’s houses and also visiting every library that we have in Flores.

Below is an introduction note that Lukas wrote for all of us:

“Hello,

I’m Lukas from Germany and I’m new with Taman Bacaan Pelangi. For a whole year I will join the rainbow chasers as a fulltime volunteer based at Flores.

I like books and reading very much and I am convinced that by providing access to good books the education and personality of children can be influenced in a very positive way.

During the next twelve month I will help the Taman Bacaan Pelangi-Team in making their visions come true and working to encourage and nurture children’s interest in reading

I really hope that during my time here I will be able to make a difference to the kids in the remote areas of eastern Indonesia and that I can help them to realize their potential and develop their skills.

I am looking forward to discovering new things and to broadening my horizon in this wonderful country. Thank you for having me on board!”

Welcome on board, Lukas! Very happy to have you here in Indonesia. You’ll have a great time with the kids and our volunteers! 🙂
